god.. even another error:(

hi

it seems like god himself is trying to prevent this app to get on the market!

when im trying to run my app on my ipod touch it starts the app but just a black screen and it says: GDB program received signal "SIGABRT"

any idea on how this can be fixed?

I know the feeling, only believe in god when bad things happen. Usually for me at least that happens when trying to load an image that is not there, not added to the project, or a typo.

i dont think its the app that it is wrong

but however how do i debug it?? the thread doesnt explain my problem

Yes, the thread does about half way down or so. I'll paste it here:

1. Make sure you're compiling for Debug in the drop down at the top left of your toolbar. Also make sure the active configuration is Debug.
2. Find your project's AppDelegate.m file (usually prefixed with your project's name). Click in the gray column with the line count that sits between your "Groups & Files" treeview and your code. A blue marker should indicate a breakpoint is set.
3. Run the program. It should crash and Xcode will go to the breakpoint that you just set, having paused execution.
4. Hold the Apple Command Button + Shift and press r. The Debugger Console should appear.
5. Type "backtrace" without the inverted commas.
6. You should see a stack trace. Examine your code from the top of the stack down until you find the likely culprit.
7. If you want that NSLog exception description printed to the console, either set the breakpoint just after it (at the closing brace) or walk over it with Command-Shit-O.

well now i got another error because i restored my ipod because another forum said i should so now in the organizer window of xcode it says

"The version of iOS on “Jens Gleerup’s iPod” does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below, or update to the latest version of the iOS SDK; which is available here."

im running 4.2 but in xcode it says that it only goes for 4.1 how do i fix this??

You'll need to download and install the iOS 4.2 SDK that contains Xcode 3.2.5, then the error will go away. Otherwise, if you have a backup of your 4.1 or lower iOS firmware, you could restore the device to that earlier version which would be compatible with your current SDK. I have never restored a device, so I don't know how to help in that regard.

I dunno. Maybe [UIRuntimeOutletConnection connect] is where things start to fail. Do you have disconnected IBOutlets? That's just a guess. It may be a project setting or something else, but it doesn't look like any of your game code is to blame.

Hopefully Daniel will have some insight.

well thanks for the help youve taken me several steps further now i just need to know what the error can be:(

i got an earlier backup version wich works fine so can i also debug that and get the same info to see the differences?

Hm, I'm with baike: from the stack trace it looks like some problem in your nib/xib file. Does your app contain content that was created with interface builder? Or have you simply used the AppScaffold project (or an Xcode template) to create a Sparrow game?

If you haven't done anything with the interface builder yourself, you could grab a copy of the latest version of the AppDelegate project and paste your classes in there. The latest version of that project does not use any xib-files. That way, you can rule that out as the root of the problem.
