How to display SVG

Good day,

Is there any way I can display SVG using sparrow? I would like to use SVG to create my own scoreboards, frames, text, etc. I realize SVG in will not be supported for in-game animation anytime soon (although this would be nice), but it will make things flexible to be able to use SVG for more static objects.

Hi Jacobus,

unfortunately not! To the best of my knowledge, you can use SVG images only in a UIWebView on the iPhone.

So I'm afraid you'll have to render your SVG images into bitmap graphics (png) so that you can use them. The "atlas generator" and "texture scaler" utilities that come with Sparrow at least make it easy to use the best resolution for old and new iPhones.

what about drawing SVG via coregraphics inside an SPTexture?

You can use PaintCode to convert a SVG image to graphics and then use that inside a SPTexture. I did that in my latest app. It scales quite nicely.

You can then do something like this:

[[SPTexture alloc] initWithContentsOfImage:[SVGKImage imageWithContentsOfFile:"your file path here"]].UIImage]
