I am creating a side scrolling platformer.
My backgrounds tend to be pretty large to accomodate the scrolling effect.
For that reason, I am loading texture atlases for sprites and loading the backgrounds by themselves.
If I understand correctly the max texture sizes are 1024x1024 for iphone3GS, 2048x2048 for retina iphones, and 4096x4096 for retina ipads.
However I am currently using backgrounds that are a bit wider than 2048 pixels on my iphone 4s and they seem to be working fine.
Is sparrow somehow hiding this limitation and splitting the background into separate textures? Is it more efficient to split these large images into smaller ones?
Any advice is much appreciated! 🙂
