I noticed that you are examining the plist manually in the supportedInterfaceOrientations method. This behavior is done by default, according to the documentation, so if you want to just go according to the plist you should simply return UIInterfaceOrientationMaskAll

Relevant snippet from the documentation

The system intersects the view controller’s supported orientations with the app's supported orientations (as determined by the Info.plist file or the app delegate's application:supportedInterfaceOrientationsForWindow: method) to determine whether to rotate.

Hm ... I could swear that this didn't work in the past; because I remember that I was surprised that I have to do this manually. Could it be that this was only added in iOS 6? (Remember, Sparrow 2.0 must work on iOS 5, too.)

But I might be mistaken. Maybe I was just sitting on my eyes when I wrote that code. It has happened before! ;-P

You are half right. You are correct that it doesn't work on iOS 5 and below, but that doesn't matter because the method I mentioned is only called in iOS 6 and above 😉. iOS 5 and below will call shouldAutoRotateToInterface: instead so all you need to do to support pre iOS 6 is implement that method as well.
