On my current project I've been messing around with custom display objects and I created a little extension to draw Bezier curves:

This is pretty basic, no antialiasing and fixed segments number. If anyone knows how to add anti aliasing or how to tune segments to optimize it (in the more curved locations there must be more segments) is welcome to help me! 🙂
The actual version works fine for my app but maybe someone else would need a better one.

Yeah, antialiasing is tough (especially if you want it just for specific display objects). Thankfully, thanks to the now common retina devices, it's not as much of an issue as it was in the past. Right now, it's probably just iPad 2 and iPad Mini 1 that will suffer.

Really? I'm testing with an iPad 2 but I have to find someone with a retina display to see the difference!
About the segmentation, I was reading an article about bezier curves and it seems that the subdivision points automatically accumulate near areas of large curvature, so that feature is already there. I found also tips for other nice improvements, like drawing with triangles instead of GL_LINE_STRIP that could make the line smoother. I will update it when I have the chance, but if someone else wants to do it he/she's welcome.

I updated the extension with a first version of a textured bezier curve. Basically I draw it with a triangles strip instead of lines. For now the texture is static and the curve works like a mask over it but I plan to update it with a small texture applied to each segment composing the curve.

My client seemed satisfied with the result in his ipad air, I think it's fine, thanks!
I updated with 3 curve types (linear, quadratic, cubic) and new texturization. If i will need it in the future I will modify it with the recursive definition to generate curves with any degree (not just 1, 2, 3).
