Daniel

Sparrow has the luck to have a community of a lot of great folks and awesome programmers.

Many of those have already created numerous add-on classes, source modifications, Xcode templates and even complete open source games with and for Sparrow!

To make it easy for every Sparrow user to find those contributions, I want to invite the creators to list their contributions here. Please write a short summary about the project and add a link to its main discussion thread and where it can be found.

Please don't start discussions about the contributions here, but keep them in separate forum threads! This thread should just be a clearly arranged way to find them.

RotateAboutPointCategory. Let's say you have got a turtle (or a long vehicle) sprite. You can setup turtle centre in the middle of picture like on that picture http://www.sparrow-framework.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/coordinate_systems.png, but the real turtle (a vehicle) do not rotate in the middle. The turtle must to crawl (creep). When it moves right leg the rotation pivot is in the left edge (in a car or truck somewhere on the rear axe outside the vehicle). When the turtle changes
a leg you can't shift a sprite centre because you will disturb the movement. You have to move the rotation pivot to opposite side of turtle (or a vehicle). I implemented a scrollRect property that works similar to that in Flash. I decided to subclass SPSprite instead of adding the feature to the SPDisplayObjectContainer class directly:

Usage:

SPScrollSprite * canvas = [SPScrollSprite sprite];
[self addChild:canvas];
canvas.scrollRect = [SPRectangle rectangleWithX:0 y:0 width:150 height:200];
/// add child objects to the container as usual

The SPScrollSprite is the same as SPSprite if its scrollRect property is nil. Otherwise, its rendered area is clipped to the indicated SPRectangle.

The class implements simple touch scrolling, which can be disabled by setting instance.scrollEnabled = NO (if you want to move manually by setting scrollRect.x and scrollRect.y, or to add your own listener and implement alternative scrolling logic such as flicking or with easing).

Written with the Sparrow view backed up by a ViewController, so rotation is available (and it's allegedly 'free of charge' in performance terms for iOS >= 4.2 - haven't tested that myself yet).
